2011-365-364: Faces
Liz is here! Just in time to force her into my 365 project, haha! I used to live with her back in ye olde London town, and haven’t seen her since what seems like forever ago. So here we are, slightly confused and mostly tired, just like old times. Hurrah. Only one more photo left! Gasp. [Originally posted at: http://iheartmuseums.posterous.com/2011-365-364-faces ]

2011-365-363: Global village
I was waiting for the streetcar downtown today, across from this backpacker’s hotel. This was the first place I ever stayed the first time I came to Toronto, way back in 2004. (It wasn’t really a super great hostel, but that’s beside the point.) It’s hard to believe it’s been that long! The city seemed so huge and overwhelming to me back then - I remember hauling...

2011-365-362: Drake
We’ve got a PS3 on loan at the moment, and I gave Uncharted a whirl this evening. I like the theme of it, and the gameplay is fairly similar to Red Dead Redemption (certain tasks, the shooting, atmosphere, etc), which I’ve enjoyed recently also. Will it be enough to make me want a PS3? Time will tell. In the meantime I’ve got to shoot some dudes, hang from ledges and loot...

I put a pack of these magnet balls in Adam’s stocking, and he’s been making all sorts of things with them since the weekend. I came home to find this on the fridge earlier. Nawwwww. Best guy. [Originally posted at: http://iheartmuseums.posterous.com/2011-365-361-3 ]

2011-365-360: 1000+
I can’t remember the last time my. Google reader was down below 1000+ unread items. I have gotten a bit discouraged that their sharing mechanism has changed, and I guess I feel like I’d spend more time on there if it hadn’t changed. Also, it’s rare I get times like tonight to just laze and scroll through. I ought to really use it to collect stuff to post links in blog...

2011-365-359: Dino Escape!
See the full gallery on Posterous Lots of game playing this weekend. Some great rounds of quick new faves like Geistes Blitz and Cockroach Poker, and we tried out Alien Frontiers too, which was great. But I think the most fun was playing this home crafted game called Dino Escape, which our friend JP made. I included a couple of snaps today so you can marvel in the glory of the Dino markers and...

Stocked up well and proper for the weekend - just as well we got a fresh bottle of the Kraken, too! I went and forgot my photo yesterday though, oops.. I’d been so good lately, too. Well, must forge onto the year’s end. [Originally posted at: http://iheartmuseums.posterous.com/2011-365-358-noggin ]

2011-365-356: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Saw “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” this evening. So very well cast, but it drags terribly and could have done with some more peaks of action. I know, I know, the Cold War wasn’t exactly action.. But this movie was pretty middle of the road and needed *something*. Oh, the cast though. [Originally posted at: http://iheartmuseums.posterous.com/2011-365-356-tinker-tailor-soldier-spy...

When I was in Winnipeg during the summer, I tried Boon Burger’s terrific “Thanksgiving” burger, with all the flavours and suchlike of this time of year. I love themed food like that, in a form you sort of least expect it in. So when I tried the “holiday leftovers” burrito at Hot Beans today, I was excited to find it was as awesome as expected. A bit of soy...

2011-365-354: So close
Whenever we play games that are anything tougher than a party game, Adam will generally beat me. Usually by a fair amount. But it’s especially painful when I get *this* close to winning the whole game of five players and Adam takes it by a point. *shakes fist* [Originally posted at: http://iheartmuseums.posterous.com/2011-365-354-so-close ]

On the couch, watching Newsradio and having one of our 2 dogsitting charges peer with confusion at us. The other is happy to ignore what we’re doing and snuggle on the couch! [Originally posted at: http://iheartmuseums.posterous.com/2011-365-353-monday-hangouts ]

2011-365-352: Cookie monster
I’d never experienced a holiday cookie exchange before moving to North America. The first time I participated in one, I wasn’t sure of what it exactly entailed. Not realising you brought along, say, half a dozen cookies for each person participating and in return you get half a dozen from each of then, I just turned up with a tupperware container with small batch of cookies. At...

There’s a crazy new supermarket downtown in what used to be a hockey stadium (Maple Leaf Gardens). I kinda like their nod to that history with a maple leaf of stadium seats. [Originally posted at: http://iheartmuseums.posterous.com/2011-365-351-leaf-seat ]

2011-365-349: T-shirts and lattes
Snakes is getting all merched up! I couldn’t help it, and helped myself to a freshly delivered t-shirt this afternoon. How totally sweet is this? It’s all awesomely abstract and stylin’. Many props to our friend Sean, master of getting the design happening and shirts printed! [View on Flickr] [Originally posted at:...

2011-365-346: Pandemic!
I played Pandemic for the first time tonight, hard to believe seeing as this is one of the games I see people playing at Snakes the most. I quite liked it. I’m generally pretty rubbish at board games, so it’s nice to play something cooperative where it doesn’t matter how much I suck, as my fellow players are all there to help! Here we are on the board in Atlanta (natch!)...

Still enjoying some Bunners treats today - like this gf vegan berry pie! The half of the other half that I enjoyed was pretty delicious, and a treat with a generous helping of vanilla coconut ice cream. And this is why winter makes me fat.. 2011-365-344: Tokyo Whale Ruffians
I finally got to see Tokyo Police Club! It was ace. They’re so great live! And even better was that Said the Whale were on the bill too - except the show must’ve started earlier than I thought so I missed a chunk of their set :( I didn’t end up being super keen on the Born Ruffians - aspects of their music are great, but it’s just not cohesive enough for me. But the show...

2011-365-342: Rice bowl!
Mega rice bowl tonight! Greens and this twice fried tofu (hiding all the rice) and a savory sauce that’s sort of gravy/cheesey. I would’ve preferred a miso gravy or satay sauce though. Mmmm. [Originally posted at: http://iheartmuseums.posterous.com/2011-365-342-rice-bowl ]

2011-365-341: Arty ante
Well, more of a big hallway space than an antechamber I guess, but the space is certainly used pretty well! This is the 4th floor of the Gladstone Hotel, a small makeshift gallery space that also doubles as the area outside the hotel rooms on that floor. There’s also a similar space on the 3rd floor, and art all the way down the old wooden staircase, too. The building is really terrific...

2011-365-340: Staycation!
The mister and I are having a few days off together as a “staycation” before work gets crazy for him. After a lovely day spent relaxing and wandering, we’re having a night at Gladstone Hotel’s in one of their awesome rooms. Time to laze in our underwear and eat chocolate! Caught up with an old work colleague over dinner tonight, was just what I needed. Sometimes it just takes the right couple of people to talk to in a day to realise you’re okay. Plus, delicious eats! I always love it when places shape food like this. [Originally posted at: http://iheartmuseums.posterous.com/2011-365-339-starry-rice ]
